Important Information about Medicare’s New Card for Seniors
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is changing Medicare cards for seniors and making it harder for fraud to occur from the cards by removing social security numbers. The new cards are currently being mailed to beneficiaries through April 2019 based on geographic location.
Newly eligible Medicare beneficiaries have been receiving cards nationwide since April 2018. Our clients in Florida, along with the Southeastern states of Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina will start receiving their new cards after July 2018.
“We’re taking this step to protect our seniors from fraudulent use of Social Security numbers which can lead to identity theft and illegal use of Medicare benefits. We want to be sure that Medicare beneficiaries and healthcare providers know about these changes well in advance and have the information they need to make a seamless transition.” – CMS Administrator Seema Verma
